My name is Amanda Barberena, and I'm a senior at Michigan State University. I'm studying Media and Information with a concentration in film making, and I'm minoring in Public Relations. I plan to graduate in May of 2021.
I am currently working at NPR affiliate station WKAR as the Social Media Intern. I craft Facebook and Twitter posts for the news social media accounts. I also update the website and articles.
Outside of work, I am the president of the MSU Chapter of the Society of News Design, a student organization that focuses on design. I'm also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Camp Kesem and The Wharton Center Student Marketing Organization.
During the summer of 2020, I was the Government Affairs Intern at Comcast's Central Division office in Atlanta. From 2017-2020, I was the "All Things Considered" Intern at WKAR, and I was a production intern at PBS affiliate WKAR-TV in 2020.
During the summer of 2019, I worked in the public relations department at Comcast's Heartland Region office.
In my free time, I love hiking (especially at Pictured Rocks or Hocking Hills), eating snickerdoodle cookies and watching movies with my friends and family. My all time favorite movie is "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."
